On November 21, 2016, Kompozitor Ltd. received funding of HUF 84,475,291 to support Corporate K+F activities from the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, in the KFI_ Corporate Call for Tender. With the investment exceeding 137 million forints, Kompozitor develops a new chimney liner prototype.
The planned new development of Kompozitor Ltd. is based on the knowledge base of the already successful FuranFlex® technology with which a new heat-resistant chimney composite product will be developed. The new product called HHR (High Heat Resistance) will be suitable for lining chimneys of wood, pellets or coal-fired boilers exposed to higher heat loads. The essence of the FuranFlex® system is that the composite chimney tubes are tightened into the existing chimney holes in a soft folded firm, which is then irreversibly cured by vapour infiltration. The chimney liner follows the directional changes of the hole, its tangles and takes its shape.
At present, there is no chimney coating technology on the market that can withstand the robust loads of solid fuel combustion in a durable and safe manner while at the same time its incorporation is simple and its price is advantageous. The newly developed composite HHR chimney liner will be able to withstand excessive heat loads, aggressive precipitation, which is associated with such heating solutions and does not contain boron compound as a flame retardant, which will increasingly become a banned raw material.
The product being developed will therefore be novel in two important areas. One is environmental protection. It is important to minimize waste during the production and installation of the product and to prevent the product from containing any environmentally harmful flame retardant additive. The other area is high corrosion, heat and flame resistance, which ensures that the product is abiding in the chimney and protects residential property and life even in case of a chimney fire.
As a result of the development, a Hungarian-owned international patent will be announced according to the hopes of Kompozitor Ltd. The development represents significant intellectual value as the composite resin product to be developed will be a completely new construct based entirely on the knowledge base of Kompozitor Ltd.
